7 tips for Acquiring more Email Subscribers

Building your email marketing list is one of your most important assets.

So with that in mind, it makes sense to update your list regularly and get as many targeted subscribers as possible onto your list.

So how do you do that? Here are 7 tips for getting more subscribers:

1. Offer a super enticing Lead Magnet

Potential customers are not willing to part with their personal information easily. That’s why you need to make sure that you’re offering lead magnets with these characteristics:

  • They must be valuable. Even though you’re giving it away for free, customers must perceive the offer as being valuable
  • They must be desirable. In order for customers to desire what you are offering, you must have an in-demand lead magnet

How do you create an in-demand lead magnet? Spend some time brainstorming an “ultimate list” of your own. For example:

  • The Ultimate List of Killer Headlines
  • The Ultimate List of Profitable Upsells
  • The Ultimate List of Webinar Ideas
2. Match the Lead Magnets to the viewed content

A mistake that a lot of marketers make when building their list is that they send every visitor to the exact same lead page. This means providing something that is directly related to the exact content the visitor was just viewing. For example

Offer a content upgrade to your blog visitors. If you have a long post on your site, then offer to send this post as a .PDF to readers. Alternatively, you can even offer the content in a different form such as a video version of the content they just read. It must however be something that is directly related to the exact content the visitor was just viewing.

3. Install a popup capture system 

Although most people do not like popups, the truth is, they work like crazy. What you must do to make it as painless as possible is to use delayed popups for maximum conversions as visitors need time to peruse your site first before a popup appears.

They are not going to join your list if you drop an offer in front of them the moment they land on the page.

4. Redirect Exit Traffic

Just because your visitors are leaving without taking any action does not mean they will never take action. So when they hit the “back” button to get out of your site, you still have one last chance to put a lead magnet in front of them that will get them signing up to your list.

For example:

“Before you go, grab this free infographic on Social media trends for 2018……..”

5. Direct your social media visitors to your lead pages

Social media is a great place to interact with your audience and even get some sales. But what you need to do is focus on directing your network back to your lead pages. As an example if you have a Facebook page, you can add a tab to your Facebook page and start capturing email addresses directly from Facebook. Make it as easy as possible for visitors to opt in.

6. Post Youtube Videos

Post YouTube videos that include calls to action at the end of the videos. The call to action should direct viewers to your lead page.

 7. Partner with an influencer

If you are aware of the influencers in your area of business, you can partner with them, you can leverage their traffic to build your own mailing lists.

Here are 6 ways to do this:

  1. Create a webinar together. Co-create this webinar to teach a topic together. The key here is that your partner helps you promote the webinar, and you build a list by having prospects register for the event by joining your list.
  2. Co-promote each other in your respective newsletters.
  3. Swap links on your confirmation pages. This is a great place to promote each other’s lead pages, since the new subscriber is in a subscribing mood.
  4. Guest blogging. Pretty simple – just persuade your partner to publish your exclusive article on their blog.
  5. Create and distribute viral content together. Each of you promotes the content, and each of you inserts links to your lead pages directly into the content.
  6. Recruit the influencer to your affiliate team. Give them a commission on a product/service. They get to keep some profits, and you get the valuable list of buyers.
